Attention please

If anybody was involved around the first generation (1975-1980) with boat-refugees (UN workers, camp workers etc), the refugee camps, are boatrefugees themselves or know people who are, please send me information! Photo's, stories, experiences etc, everything is elcome!
In order to get more visualisations about my parents story, I want more photo's and know more about other peoples experiences.

In short, my parents route started in januari 1976 after the Fall of Saigon, they fled by crappy fishingboat with other people, passing by Singapore, who refuse the boatload of people permission to land (yea unbelievable), so they had to float around the South China Sea for awhile, destination unknown.*Cut the long story short* Eventually my parents went by feet through Malaysia, cross border to Thailand and ended up in Songkla refugee camp and finally got accepted/adopted by Dutch government on sept 23, 1976. Just two weeks after my brother was born (click for paparazzi photo of my mom and brother on arrival as the first generation vietnamese boat refugee in Holland, yes big news in Holland...)

They must have been very happy after this long road of freedom: 1978, 1,5 years later I was born :-)
Anyways, please send me information, photos or anything if you know more!

Prologue

As I was child I've always been listening to my mothers story about her life in Vietnam, the way she fled out of Vietnam and being one of the first generation boat people /refugee. My dad never talks much about his childhood or early years. But once awhile he will drop things.

My mother is chinese vietnamese. She is born (1950) and raised in Vietnam. She is the first generationchinese in vietnam of her family. They fled out of China during the civil war in hope for better living.

My father is born in QuangZhou province in a difficult-to-name-village in China. Probably in the year of 1946 (the exact year is not known as in that times chinese peasants do not keep a calendar, they only remember what sign of year they are born in)

The story I'll be writing is not just a story, it's my parents story. I'm writing this to honour them. Because they are the ones that I look up to and proud of who they are after all that they have gone through. Despite the fact that I can be very irritated about my parents sometimes, they still are my parents and I love them uncondtionally and vice versa (they really have to put up with me alot... :-P)

Please come back again, as it is quiet a long story.....
